Parent Letter 2017To the Parents/Guardians of Grade 7 Students,
We are beginning the Grade 7 exhibition and wanted to tell you a little about the process. Students will be participating in a seven-week collaborative inquiry process to celebrate the transition of learners from primary to middle/secondary education. It will provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate independence and responsibility for their own learning, to synthesize and apply their learning of previous years, and to reflect upon their journey through the PYP (Exhibition Guidelines, IBO). In this process, students will implement all the aspects and elements of the PYP program to be successful. Being a collaborative process there is a role for students, teachers, and parents. You can support your child by helping to access resources (people, places, media and information) and perhaps providing expert subject knowledge where applicable. Please note though that it is important to encourage independent inquiry and respect student ownership of the process. We also hope that you can celebrate with the students by attending our exhibition evening on Tuesday, May 9 (Exhibition Guidelines, IBO). It is helpful for this process that students have access to ear buds and a flash drive during the research phase. Students are encouraged to back up their information at home. We have provided a calendar outlining the process on the back of this letter. If you have any questions please get in touch with us.
